(lol! Hit me up. I'm always invisible, but I get the Instant message alerts to my phone. So glad you love the site! Stick around!)

That's a hard question... at first glance. I think it depends on the context.

If you're talking about a relationship, then I'd rather be understood, and strive to understand, which in turn makes everyone happy. In relationships, men often mistake a woman's purpose in a discussion or agument, depending on how he percieves it, as her trying to be RIGHT! That usually can't be further from the truth! She's trying to get him to understand her point of view, so she can feel understood and therefore feel happy!

I'm speaking in general. People often create false realities to make themselves happy instead of being honest with themselves and the people around them. I think happiness is a delusion that only disconnected insane people experience.
If you're connected (to the world) meaning you see yourself in others then it's hard to be truly happy because you feel everyone's pain (and "temporary" happniess). You'd have to be a pretty sick person to have full knowledge of all the evil, sickness, poverty and death that happens in this world and still smile all the time. I've never met a person with down syndrome who seemed miserable & depressed. Which leads me to believe you have to have a certain level of consciousness/awareness (or maybe even intelligence) to feel pain. And if you don't then you're probably a sick, cold self centered invidivual who doesn't care about others or just delusional.

example:

On average religious people are often happier than non religious folks because they "think" they have the answers to some of the most difficult questions that some of the greatest scientist, philosophers and scholars have been trying to figure out for centuries. That type of assurity would definitely make one feel peaceful and at ease. But in reality they don't have the answers and they're just lying to themselves to stay happy.

Hard truth.

just speaking in general though.

Everyone has their own perception of "Reality". You're example isn't the "Truth" to me! I'm not religious, but I'm spiritual ;)...I know plenty of unhappy religious people. lol. So that's why I say that's not necessarily "True". Actually, in your example, what I see is two opposites refusing to explore the middle, or gray area...which makes them both "RIGHT" and "WRONG". The gray area is probably where the Truth is. ;) I can't wait for the day that spirituality and science are combined... THEN, and only then will the TRUTh be known to those who have a hard time finding it on their own.

Okay, but none of this is either here or there. I overstand the part I quote below, because I'm an empath amongst many other things... and always have been. So by nature I feel entirely too much of everything. However, with age comes a lot of peace. I wouldn't call it blissfully happy for long amounts of time, but I would say that you learn the ability of acceptance, and a deep level of understanding that can ease the soul far better than you can when you're younger (or beyond that portion of your life, cause age as a # is not what I mean when I say younger. I was always far beyond my years.). A higher ability to find peace... Does that mean that you feel satisfied and discontinue to feel the pain and deep mourns in the energy of the world.... no... that never goes away... but you do grow to deal with it better.

Another way to put it, is you begin to feel at home in your unhappiness, and by default, find happiness in unhappiness. lol! Something like that. Let's call it acceptaing WHAT IS, changing what you can, doing what you can, remaining aware, and sometimes disappointed by what is wrong, but feeling far more at home in all of these facts. I do this all the time. believe it or not we share many phillosophical beliefs, but for whatever reason, I'm far more at peace with said phillosophical facts... this came with inner revelations.. or aka, what I call age... which like I said, has no number or time. After all, i've met people 20 yrs older than me, who are far younger than me. get it?!

Okay, that may, or may not make a lot of sense to everyone. lol. let me try again... I'd rather be both (in theory). I wouldn't use the word "Right", because that's based on perception... I'd rather be a seeker of truth, seeing what is, keeping my idealisms, and being able to be okay enough with said "truths", in order to find some sense of peace aka a level of happiness or balance.

by the way, if I couldn't have both... by default i'd be "Right" (for lack of a better word), and unhappy. lol. It's my nature. I can't help but SEE what is, feel what is, dream of what it should or could be if if if, and if they they they...or i i i could could could teach, reach, or change the world.

it's the reason I have tribal fire tatted up my right leg. "down here in hell, with..."

I can find peace which I now know is far better than what I used to think I needed... but I will most likey never have "ignorant bliss" ---which is something I say in a poem of mines...written years back. I said something regarding how I used to think my only doorway to any "happiness" would be If I wasn't too much in the know, so I could have a healthy level of ignorant bliss. I know better now. I know it's FAR better to be wise, and at peace as much as possible... because there is a contentment there... that's REAL.

Agreed.

Everything in life is perception.

but "certain" truths are irrefutable, and usually those "truths" are related to science. Spirituality and science will never be coexist until we first establish a clear cut definition of what spiritually is. If by spiritual you mean the ability to love, create poetry and art then I guess yes there is a connection. I've seen Elephants and Chimps paint. Many animals are attached to one another (mother to child, Male & female penguins actually work together to raise their young). Thanks to our intelligence we're sophisticated enough to articulate these feelings and label it "Love"

No magic or "spirituality"(as most people define it) is required.

I guess the idea that the same exact atoms that existed at the very beginning of universe exist now in each of us could be interpreted as spiritual in a sense, maybe?. I dunno, the word spiritual has a historically negative stigma though and is usually associated with ignorance. (along with souls and things of that nature, if we have souls at what point did they enter our bodies? did our ancestors like Australopithecus have souls?... did their ancestors have souls? how can we test things things and find out? These are just assumptions that we've had since our primitive unenlightened days that we refuse to let go of. )

"by the way, if I couldn't have both... by default i'd be "Right" (for lack of a better word), and unhappy. lol. It's my nature. I can't help but SEE what is, feel what is,"

Okay, So there's our common ground.

Unhappiness and reality sucks though, but I still prefer it to fantasy.

"dream of what it should or could be if if if."

this is where we differ though. (and is probably why you're so great at surreal artwork and I'm not >:O )

could you check your inbox pah-lease

Well, to save time I'm not going to go into a long reply, but many scholars and great minds happen to agree with me on the joining of spirituality and science, which is not far fetched because it was conjoined at one time. Next, I will say that to believe in science imo is faulty, and it doesn't lead to ulimate truth. Science itself acknowledged that they can't explain consiousness and so many other things. also, I believe animals have spirits too. I believe once we understand quantum physics, a lot of this would be explained. I wrote about this years ago in a blog on my website. I personally knew quantum physics existed as a baby, because of a spirituality I was always in touch with. You, on the other hand are striving to KNOW something and feel secure as if you know something through science alone, when in actuality, there is no scientific explaination for the most complex things about life.
