what do you think

like many of you i watch the news. i like to know what is going on in my backyard as well as others.

but let me ask you do you think that the media is the reason that there are so many problems in the world.

stories are not being told all the way, which means to me that i am being lied to, half the truth is not the truth.

what do you think about this?

do you watch for the truths or just entertainment?

The only time the media is the source for problems (IMO), is on the international level. Because sad to say, a lot of world leaders run their countries like little boys in the schoolyard. But aside from that the media really is only good for causing ppl to form their opinions unjustly. And of course I say unjustly because, things are reported as they are found out. Far too many of us (generally speaking), take the news media as the gospel. That's why it's never good to get your info about something from one source. It's okay to watch the news, but read the paper also. If you have access, go online. And even then don't be so hasty to jump to one side or the other in terms of the information being given by the news. Because all the news should be used for, is information. From that derive your own opinions.

I watch the news for information, to stay abreast of "what's going on." Nothing more, nothing less.

Here's how I see it. The problem with the news now days is that most of it isn't news. Most of what passes for news is nothing more than continuous reporting of titilating events of the day. That isn't news. News reporting is supposed to be about new happenings, new things, breakthroughs or hard to believe oddity's. If you tell me that a woman without a womb got pregnant, that is news. If you tell me that pregnancy is down for the third year in a row and then start guessing as to why or don't give a reason why, you are just titilating me ...and that isn't good news reporting, so it ain't really news. Like you said, if it is incomplete and half done it is pretty much pointless. Don't tease me, deliver.

For those reasons I rarely ever watch the news. I'm a newspaper type of guy. When a person has to write the news he has to give it more thought and cover his backside 'cause he/her doesn't want to be sued. I like entertainment news even less than supposedly regular news. Why hang out at peoples houses just to see them leaving and then report ...Oprah was seen leaving her main home early this morning and thats not all. She was seen with a guy that wasn't Studman, who was it? WFT? I couldn't care less.
